Private Events FAQs How long do events typically run: Most private events are usually three hours and have a minimum of five people. Are there food and beverages: We offer some light drinks and snacks but can discuss something more elaborate. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks as well. What takes place during the event: You and your guests will all make things out of wet clay using hand-building techniques such as pinch pots, slabs, and coils. Participants are welcome to paint their pieces with colored slips (underglazes) that day. We will dry your pieces (for the next week), and bisque fire them in the kiln (for two days). Then, we will glaze the pieces (put a coat of clear liquid glass on them) and will fire them a second time. What is typically made during the event: We can discuss what you want everyone to create. Participants can all create the same thing, they can do individual projects or they can all build something together. Examples of pieces beginners have made are on the Ceramic Social Instagram and FB pages. People usually make a dish, cup, etc. Some people make one thing, and some make several things. Everyone is different in how quickly they work, depending on their style and experience level. No prior experience is necessary. When will the projects be ready: The twice fired and glazed work needs to be picked up at a later date. It usually takes 2- 4 weeks for the whole process.
